Getting started with the Full Potential app

If your training plan has just landed, this is the quickest way in. Watch the fourvideos below in order — each one picks up where the last one left off — or skipstraight to whatever you're stuck on.

The app is where your plan lives. But it's still me on the other end of it, readinghow your sessions went and adjusting what comes next. The videos are short onpurpose. You've got running to do.

1. Getting in

When your plan's ready, you'll get an email from me. Tap the Activate button insideit and the app opens and signs you straight in — no password to type, nothing toremember. On the way through you'll set a password, so you can log back in wheneveryou like. Then you land on Today, and you're away.

If it doesn't behave: open the email on the phone you've installed the app on, and tap the button from there. If it still won't play ball, just reply to that email and I'll sort it out.

2. Your plan at a glance

Today is your home screen. Whatever you're running today sits right there, front andcentre. Tap it for the detail — the session, the target, and the reason behind it, because knowing why you're doing something makes it far easier to do properly.

Swipe across to your week to see how it all fits together, and open the full plan tosee the whole thing, start to finish. Later blocks unlock as your race gets closer. You'll always know what's coming next, without the entire plan landing on you at once.

3. Onto your wrist

There's one bit of setup to do first, and only once. Go to Settings, then Apple Watch& Fitness, tap Connect on Workout Scheduling, and allow access. That's what lets theapp hand workouts over to your watch. Once it says Connected, you never have to thinkabout it again.

After that, open any session and tap Send to Fitness. The workout drops straightinto the Workout app on your watch, ready to start with a tap — with your targetsright there on your wrist while you run.

Do the Connect step first. Send to Fitness won't do anything until the settingsays Connected. It's the single most common thing people get caught out by. AppleWatch only for now, I'm afraid.

4. Telling us how it went

Finished your run? Open the session back up. Your heart rate has already been pulledacross from your watch, so there's nothing to type in. All I need from you is how itactually felt — easy, hard, a quick note if there's something I should know. Hitsubmit and it comes straight to me.

This is the bit that matters most, and it's the bit people skip. Your feedback is howI see whether the training is landing the way it should, and it's what I use toadjust what's coming. A plan that nobody responds to is just a spreadsheet.

This is proper coaching. It just happens to live in your pocket.

That's everything you need to get going. If something in the app doesn't make sense,or doesn't work, tell me — reply to any email from me and it comes to a real person, not a support queue.

Now go and enjoy your first session.
