Eight Bundles of Running Kit, and How to Win One

The Kit You Never Got Round to Buying

Most runners have a short list of things they'd quite like but have never actually bought. A vest, so the long run stops getting planned around water fountains. A belt, so your phone isn't in your hand for two hours. A chest light, for the mornings that are about to get dark again.

I've got eight bundles of exactly that sort of kit, and I'm giving all of it away.

Eight separate bundles, going to eight different people. Eight runners getting something they'll actually use beats one runner getting something enormous.

What's In Them

Each bundle is a small collection rather than a single item, and they're deliberately different from one another, because runners want different things.

  • Bundle one: an Active Run water bottle and a running vest.

  • Bundle two: an INIU power bank, a Bloom and Bloom running vest, and a massage gun.

  • Bundle three: a running chest light and a running belt.

  • Bundle four: a hi-vis phone belt, a Bird of God running backpack, and a foot massage roller.

  • Bundle five: an Amazing Home TheraBand kit and a running heart rate chest strap.

  • Bundle six: a Hioutdoor running vest and a water bottle.

  • Bundle seven: a Waterfly running belt and a collapsible water bottle.

  • Bundle eight: a resistance band kit, a running belt, and a collapsible water bottle.

Photographs of each one are below, so you can see exactly what you'd be getting rather than taking my word for it.

The Honest Bit About Kit

None of this will make you faster. Not one item on that list.

What the good stuff does is remove friction, and friction is what stops people training. A vest means you stop planning your long run around drinking fountains. A belt means your phone isn't in your hand for two hours. A chest light means dark mornings stop being a reason not to go out. A chest strap gives you a heart rate reading you can actually trust, which matters if you've read anything I've written this summer. And a foot roller means you sit on the sofa in the evening doing something mildly useful instead of nothing at all.

That's the honest case for kit. It doesn't add anything to your training. It removes the small excuses that stack up until you've missed a fortnight and can't remember why.

The massage guns I'm more sceptical about, and I say that as someone who owns one. They feel wonderful. The evidence that they do much beyond feeling wonderful is thinner than the marketing suggests. But feeling wonderful after a long run has its own value, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

How To Enter

If you're on the Full Potential newsletter, you're already entered. Nothing to fill in, nothing to claim.

If you're not, joining the list is the entry route. That's the whole thing. No photo to post, no tagging three friends, no sharing to a story.

Entries close on 30 September 2026. I'll draw the eight winners and message them directly in October.

Good Luck

Eight bundles, eight winners, drawn at the end of September.

And if you don't win, the point still stands. The kit is never the thing. The consistent, unglamorous, slightly boring weeks of training are the thing. The kit just makes those weeks marginally less annoying.

Enjoy the last of the light evenings.
