The Flora London marathon proved to be a successful one for Full Potential runners in 2009. Our team celebrated in style at our post-race get together and we did have much to toast! Not everyone runs personal bests all the time but we all can take something positive away from our races to help improve next time. Whether you ran a personal best, completed your first marathon, or were disappointed with with your run we hope you learned something from the experience that will help you continue to strive to reach your full potential!
Well done and a huge congratulations to all Full Potential runners! There were some great results, superb PBs and fantastic stories along the way.....

Sophie Voller ran 3.09.26 (PB by over 12 mins)
Jane Aikman ran 4.08.58 (PB by over 5 mins)

Aileen Smith ran 4.09.46 (PB by 9 mins)

David Fogelman ran 4.30.49 (PB by 10 mins)
Anna John ran her marathon debut yesterday in a fantastic 4.20.01
Gill Jubb ran a great debut marathon in 3.37.02
Karen Hazlitt, Full Potential Associate Coach, ran her 9th marathon yesterday in 2.56.54.
And well done to Paul Simons, who assists us with the coaching on our training weekends, who yesterday ran a world record time dressed as Santa Claus in of 2.55.50, 17 mins quicker than the previous record holder!
London Metro Newspaper runners Chris Stocks and Abi Slater ran completed their first ever marathon! Running together they overcame their nerves and the hot weather to conquer the distance and finish bang on 5hrs! A testament to their commitment over the past 3 months that they completed their goals!
Ross Chainey, although aiming for a 3hr10 performance was denied a PB by the heat and found the going tough in the final few miles. He still recorded a finish of 3hr30mins!
Dr Alex Hussey was aiming for a super fast 2hrs 45mins and was right on track until mile 19 when things really warmed up! He hit every mile split spot on but then the weather got the better of him and despite his best efforts he couldn't quite achieve his target yet still finished with a strong 2hrs 58mins. Despite missing his goal Alex showed commitment to the race and his target. Without risk and pushing boundaries we really don't know what we are capable of. Sometimes you have to push back and run hard, take a gamble for real gain. This time around it didn't come off for Alex but it will in the future.
The Lucozade Super 6 athletes that we worked with also had a great day out .. check out their stories at the link below:
